Bangladesh Journal of Genetics & Biotechnology (Bangladesh j. genet. Biotechnol.) will at present be published twice a year by the Genetical Society of Bangladesh, housed at the Department of Genetics & Breeding, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. The Journal is intended to publish original research contributions in the fields of animal and plant genetics & breeding, biotechnology, molecular biology, tissue culture etc. Research papers by any non-members may be published if the paper is communicated by a member of the Society. Papers intended for publication in the Journal must not have been published, accepted or submitted for publication elsewhere. The Editorial Board reserves the right to edit manuscript as it deems fit. Authors willing to contribute to Bangladesh j. genet. Biotechnol. are urged to pay attention to the following:
Manuscript: The first page of the manuscript should contain only a concise and self-explanatory Title and the name and address of the author(s). For a full paper, the second and subsequent pages should be arranged in the following style and format. Title should be followed by an Abstract which should be complete in itself, should not exceed 250 words and written in one paragraph. The Abstract should be followed by Key words (not more than 5). The text should be split into Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgement (if any) and References. In the case of a Scientific Note, however, separate subtitles like Introduction, Materials and Methods etc. are not required but References should be listed as usual.
Manuscript should be written in English (preferably in British spelling), typed on one side of good quality A4 sized paper, double spaced and with wide margins left all round. The text of the full papers and Short communication should generally not exceed 12 and 4 typed pages, respectively.
Tables and Illustrations: Tables must be kept to a minimum, typed on separate sheets and each should contain a clear and self-explanatory caption. Tables should not be used where the text or illustration gives the same information. All measurements should be in metric units. Illustrations should be clearly executed on separate sheets. All figures (diagrams, line drawings and graphs) should be on good quality tracing paper, numbered consecutively and be provided with legends on separate sheets. Only black and white photographic plates are acceptable and these should also be numbered separately from the text figures.
References: In the text, a reference should be given with the name of the author and the year, e.g. Wright (1985) or (Zuberi & Gale, 1976) . In case of more than two authors, the first name should be followed by et al. (e.g. Avery et al., 1981). References to publications other than journals such as Books and Proceedings should include name of the publisher, the place of publication and pagination. Papers by the same author in the same year when cited should be distinguished by the letters a, b, c, etc. References must be abbreviated according to the latest edition of the World List of Scientific Periodicals. The authors must comply strictly with the following style of the Journal.
Ayonoadu U & Rees H 1973. DNA synthesis in rye chromosomes. Heredity, 30: 233-240.
Avery OT, MacLeod CM & McCarty M 1944. Studies on the chemical nature of the substance inducing transformation of pneumococcal types. J. Exp. Med., 79: 137-158.
