Subacute Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus in a Young Male: A Rare Clinical Presentation from Bangladesh

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic multisystem involving autoimmune disease that affects women more commonly than males.Globally of all SLE patients only 5-10% are male. Cutenous manifestation of Lupus erythematosus can be divided into 3 types: acute cutenous LE (ACLE) ,subacute cutenous LE(SCLE) and chronic cutenous LE (CCLE).SCLE maily affects middle aged women of caucasian origin,so its presentation in a young male of south asian origin is a rare clinical occurance.We are reporting a rare diagnosis of SCLE in a young bangladeshi boy of 20 years age who presented with papulosquamous and photosensitive skin lesions who later faced diagnostic difficulty and treatment response.After thorough investigations ,confirmed diagnosis was made .After appropiate immunotherapy favourable outcome was achieved.This instance illustrates the requirement for enhanced clinical awareness of SCLE in atypical demographics.
