Immune Mediated Neuropathies: Unraveling the myth

Peripheral neuropathy is an important topic for discussion in Neurology. Immune neuropathy is a group of peripheral nerve disorders where peripheral nerves are the target of disordered immune system. GBS, CIDP, MMNCB, paraneoplastic neuropathies are the common examples. Underlying pathology is the molecular mimicry, which incites an immune response directed towards axon, myelin or nodes. Diagnosis depends on clinical features, investigation like NCS, nerve USG, CSF study, nerve biopsy, antibodies. Different treatment modalities like IVIG, PE, corticosteroids, immunomodulatory drugs are in use for good functional recovery. Immune Neuropathy is still a mystery in respect of diagnosis and management. Many things are still unknown. This presentation is made to make you understand, manage and explore the mystery to mitigate the patient suffering.
