Nyctanthes arbor-tristis is a plant used extensively in Ayurvedic medicine. The scientist from Haryana (India) Prof. Sumeet Gupta and his team have shown the protective effect of Nyctanthes arbor-tristis extracts and in combination with fluoxetine on stress-induced depression in mice. Of the three extracts tested, hydroethanol extracts showed a very significant and promising anti-depressant like activity. The result is published in a recent issue of Bangladesh Journal of Pharmacology.
