Antihypertensive effect of wild onion

Summary: Wild onion shows hypotensive and diuretic effect in both in vitro and in vivo.

Wild onion (Asphodelus tenuifolius) is traditionally used in a wide variety of conditions like skin diseases, constipation, diarrhea, epilepsy, diabetes, paralysis, narcotic, sedative, sexual problems, cold, cough, fever, piles, swellings, hypertension and jaundice. Recently hypertensive and diuretic effects of this plant have been scientifically shown in both in vitro and in vivo animal models by Prof. Khalid Hussain Janbaz and his team. This result was published in Bangladesh Journal of Pharmacology.
