About the Journal

Focus and Scope:

Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh (Humanities) is published by the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh in June and December every year. Scholarly articles relating to Peoples and Nature of Asia are considered for publication in the Journal. It also receives books for reviewing.

Willian Jones, the founder of the Asiatic Society, set the aim of its Journal to discover ancient Indian heritage and translate Sanskrit and Persian works into English. In the context of the post-colonial period, the Journal has broadened its aims and objectives. Now the Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh publishes original research articles on Asian societies, literature, edication, philosophy and relevant topics. It primarily aims to serve broader communities across Asia with a particular focus on Bangladesh. 

Review Process

The Journal of the ASB is a double blind peer-review journal. The ASB Journal publishes two issues per year through it receives papers from authors round the year. After receiving papers, the Editorial Board checks whether the authors have submitted their papers following the guidelines provided by the ASB. In addition, the ASB publication department runs papers through a licensed plagiarisn checker. The papers qualified through these scrutinizes, are sent to the subject specialists for review. The reviewers get a month to send back the reviewed papers. The papers having positive reports from the reviewers are sent to the authors for revision and they get 2 to 3 weeks for the revision. After submiison of revised papers, the Editorial Board checks whether the authors have revised their papers according to the suggestions of the reviewers. The papers revised properly are selected for publication. Then the final editing and proofreading process completed and the papers are sent to the press for printing and subsequent uploaded in the ASB website. The Editorial Board meets time to time , usually, once in a month, to accomplish the whole process in time.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Article Processing Fees

There is no any article processing fees.  

Source of Support

The journal is supported with funding from annual fees of more than 1500 Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh (Humanities) members as well as endowment funds and MoCA, GoB funds.
