This is a brief instruction that provides you a guideline to prepare the manuscript for submitting to the Journal of Electrical Engineering, the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB). Please send an e-mail to ieb.journal.ee@gmail.com in order to obtain an electronic copy of the template of the journal. Note that, the JEE requires a duly formatted 2-column manuscript at the beginning.
Only original contributions to the field of electrical engineering, not previously published, are accepted for publication. Papers submitted in the JEE need to demonstrate a significant contribution in the relevant area. Failure to do so will result in the manuscript sent back without a full review process. Along with the manuscript the author has to submit a copyright form declaring that the same paper has not been submitted, accepted, published or copyrighted elsewhere. Expanded versions of a manuscript presented at a conference (or similar event) may be submitted to this Journal; provided a significant improvement or modification in technical material is presented in the JEE submission with respect to the corresponding conference version. If part of the manuscript has been presented, published or submitted elsewhere, this should be noted in the text and major differences between the prior paper(s) and the manuscript submitted to the JEE must be explained. Instructions on different parts of the paper are listed below in the order in which they should appear: title, author names and affiliations, abstract, index terms, body of the paper, figures, tables, acknowledgments, references, appendices, etc.
Title: The title of the paper should be concise and definitive. Use 24 point font size for the text of the title.
Author Names and Affiliations: All those who have participated significantly in the technical aspects of a paper be recognized as co-authors or cited in the acknowledgments. Use 11 point font size for authors'names and 10 point font size for their affiliations.
Abstract: A short abstract (200 words maximum) should open the paper to give a clear indication of the objective, scope, and results of the paper so that readers may determine whether the full text will be of particular interest to them. The abstract should be in 9 point bold font and in single spacing. Do not cite references in the abstract. Define all symbols used in the abstract. There will be a single paragraph mark after the abstract.
Index Terms: Identify four to five key words or phrases from your manuscript and mention them in alphabetical order after the abstract section.
Body of the Manuscript: Please make sure that you have selected the paper size "Letter" (8.5"×11") and used the two column format for the text. Keep 0.7 inch margin on top and bottom, 0.65 inch margin on left and right. Width of each column is 3.46 inch and the spacing between the columns is 0.28 inch. Throughout the paper, use Times New Roman font. For section headings, use "small caps" format and do not change the font sizes or line spacing to squeeze more text into a limited number of pages.
Mathematics: Equations should be numbered consecutively beginning with (1) to the end of the paper, including any appendices. The number should be enclosed in parentheses and right adjusted on the same line as the equation. Refer to "1)," not "Eq. (1)" or "equation (1)," except at the beginning of a sentence, where use the whole word, e.g., "Equation (1)". Leave 6 point blank both before and after the equation. If you are using Word, use either the Microsoft Equation Editor or the MathType add-on for equations in your paper.
Figures: Figures (graphs, line drawings, photographs, etc.) should be numbered consecutively and each figure should have a caption consisting of the figure number and a brief title of the figure. Figures should be referenced within the text as "Fig. 1." When the reference to a figure begins a sentence, the abbreviation "Fig." should be spelled out, e.g., "Figure 1". A figure may be inserted as part of the text as close as possible to its first reference. Please do not include captions as part of the figures and do not put them in "text boxes" linked to the figures. Also do not put borders around the outside of your figures.
Tables: Tables should be numbered consecutively and each table should have a caption consisting of the table number and a brief title. A table may be inserted as part of the text as close as possible to its first reference. Do not abbreviate "Table". Tables are numbered with Roman numerals, such as Table I.
Appendix: If needed, this section appears before the acknowledgment.
Acknowledgments: Acknowledgments may be made to individuals or institutions, not mentioned elsewhere in the paper, who have made an important contribution.
References: References to original sources for cited material should be listed together at the end of the paper. References should be numbered [1], [2], etc. and arranged in numerical order according to their order of appearance within the text. Use 9 point font size for the text of the references. Submission of Manuscript:
The manuscript should be prepared as per the instructions provided above. Please send an electronic copy of your manuscript via e-mail to ieb.journal.ee@gmail.com. Original manuscripts may be submitted throughout the year. A preliminary decision on the acceptance of your manuscript is generally made within THREE to FOUR weeks after the assignment of the reviewer. The JEE is now trying to finalize the decision on each of the submitted papers no later than TWO Months. For any clarification or queries, you please contact the Editor. All submissions must meet the following requirements.
