Focus and Scope

The Journal of Engineering Science (JES) is published twice in a year (June and December) under the auspices of Faculty of Civil Engineering, Khulna University of Engineering & Technology, Khulna-9203, Bangladesh. The Journal publishes original research papers and short communications in the fields of all Engineering and all Sciences and Review Articles after being property reviewed (Double blind peer review) by the experts in the respective fields. However, all contributions submitted will be referred. The Editorial Board is responsible for the final acceptance of any paper and the Board’s decision is final in case of any controversy.

Review Process

Purpose of Reviewing: The submitted paper is peer-reviewed (Double Blind) to judge its quality for the journal JES. The Editorial Board may ask authors to make revisions of the paper to satisfy the requirement. It should be noted, however, that the author is inherently responsible for the quality of the published paper.

Reviewer: The Editorial Board assigns three reviewers’ expertise in the relevant areas for each paper based on the contents.

Judgment by Reviewer: Based on the evaluation and comparison with past published papers in elsewhere, the reviewer judges whether the paper is to be accepted or rejected. The reviewer should try to be accepted a paper that can contribute to the future academic/technological development, even if it has some drawbacks. When the reviewer recommends rejection, reasons should be given according to the items mentioned in the prescribed format of Paper Review Report. The results of review are to be described and communicated to the author(s) in detail regardless of its acceptance or rejection.

Decision by Editorial Board: The Editorial Board judges if paper is to be accepted based on the reports by three reviewers. In principle, if two or more of the three reviewers recommend the acceptance, the paper will be accepted. If any reviewer requires a revision on the paper, the Editorial Board may request author to revise the paper. Editorial Board will review the revised paper to judge whether the author has given satisfactory revision and response to the comments by reviewer. The reviewer may be requested to re-review the paper for this purpose. The Editorial Board has responsibility in its final judgment and notifies the decision promptly to the concerned.

After receiving the research paper, it is checked by Turnitin (i.e., plagiarism checking). If the plagiarism is less than 30% then the paper is sent to the reviewer.
Every research paper is reviewed by two reviewers (Double blind review).
If both reviewers give minor correction, then it is sent to the corresponding Author for modifications. The modified version sends to the member of the editorial board for properly checking i.e. it is done according to the reviewer’s comments. If it is ok, then the paper has been accepted.
If one of the reviewers or (both reviewers) give major correction, then it is sent to the corresponding Author for modifications. After receiving modified version of the research paper, it is again sent to the reviewers for reviewing. If the reviewers satisfied and give the minor corrections, then it is sent to the Author again for further modification.
After receiving modified version of the research paper, it is sent to the member of the editorial board. If it is done according to the reviewer’s comments, the paper has then been accepted.
If one of the reviewers give minor/major correction and another reviewer comment is rejection, then it will send to the third reviewer for reviewing. If the third reviewer gives the major/minor correction, then it will send to the corresponding Author for correction and modifications. If the third reviewer rejected the research article, then it is assumed that the article has been rejected. After rejection information has been send to the corresponding Author.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Article Processing Fees

Our journal is free to everyone. Full text of all the contents is always available. There is no article processing charges (APCs) or submission charges. Our readers can copy, distribute, and use their attributed research for non-commercial purpose free of charge.

Copyright Attribution (Transfer of Copyright)

Our journal retains copyright of the articles through a Creative Commons attribution license (CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0). Upon decision of acceptance of the paper, the copyright is attributed (transferred) to the journal JES. Thus, the copyright of all literary works in the journal JES is attributed (transferred) to the JES. Note that signatures in a copyright transfer agreement are required for all the authors. Authors are asked to submit the form as soon as the manuscript is accepted for publication.
