A High Resolution Pitch Detection Algorithm Based on AMDF and ACF

Abstract

This paper proposes a noise robust high resolution pitch detection algorithm based on AMDF and ACF. The falling trend of AMDF is eliminated by an alignment technique, and AMDF and ACF are combined to take the advantage of their complementary nature. These two functions are combined by multiplication and addition over several band pass filters to enhance important candidates and suppress less important candidates. Then using a sophisticated weight assignment procedure, the candidate with the highest weight is selected as pitch. The proposed method is evaluated on different colored noisy speech at different intensity. Experimental result shows noise robustness of the proposed method in varied environments.

K. Abdullah-Al-Mamun, University of Southampton

I was born and spent my childhood in Comilla, Bangladesh, a very beautiful country of south ASIA. I completed my 10th Grade Exam (S.S.C) from Nangalkot A.R. High School, Comilla. I moved to Dhaka, after I completed 12th Grade Exam (H.S.C) from Nanglakot H.M. Degree College, Comilla. I did my Bachelors from Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), where I joined as a Faculty member in 2002 and worked till September 2008. I also completed my Masters from Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) in 2007. I worked as researcher in College of Computer and Information Science, King Saud University, Saudi Arabia from October 2007 to July 2008. From October 2008 I started PhD in Institute of Sound and Vibration (ISVR), University of Southampton, UK.
