Original research papers related to Biological Sciences are published in ‘The Chittagong University Journal of Biological Sciences’. Each volume of the Journal comprises two issues (Part 1& 2) published in June and December every year. For publication in The Chittagong University Journal of Biological Sciences, the paper(s) should be of high standard.
Manuscript:
The Manuscript should be in English and typed on A4 paper with double spacing and wide margins, on one side of the paper only, and should not exceed 12 pages in case of full papers and 6 pages in case of short communications, including tables and figures.
Title Page: The title should appear on a separate page and should be followed by the author’s name and the institution's name and address. The title, author name(s), and affiliations should all appear on their own respective line of text. Place an asterisk after the name of the author to whom enquiries regarding the paper should be directed and include that author’s telephone and fax numbers and e-mail address.
Abstract: The abstract, detailing, in one paragraph, the problem, experimental approach, major findings, and conclusions, should appear on the second page. It should be double-spaced and should not exceed 150 words for full papers.
Keywords: Author(s) must give 3 to 5 ‘Keywords’ or phrases that identify the most important subjects covered by the paper. These should be placed at the end of the abstract.
Introduction: The manuscript should include a brief introduction stating the purpose of the investigation and relating the manuscripts to similar research previously or currently being conducted. Only information essential to the arguments should be presented.
Materials and Methods: This section should contain some specific details about the materials studied, instruments used, sources of specialized chemicals, and related experimental details to allow other workers to reproduce the results. Separate paragraphs with sub-headings may be used to describe the experimental details.
Results and Discussion: The results should be presented concisely. Tables and figures should be designed to maximize the presentation and comprehension of the experimental data. The discussion should interpret the results and relate them to existing knowledge in the field as clearly and briefly as possible.
Acknowledgements:
The Acknowledgments section should include credits for assistance, financial support, and other appropriate recognition.
References: References to the literature, regardless of their nature, should be numbered in order of appearance in the manuscript and cited in the text with superscript numbers. We encourage the use of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) as reference links as they provide a permanent link to the electronic article referenced. References should follow the format shown:

Tables, Figures, Line drawings, Graphs, Photographs, etc.: The number of tables, graphs, photographs, line drawings, etc., and figures should be minimal. The same data should not be used in both tables and graphs.
Tables should be typed on separate pages. Figures and graphs should be drawn with Indian ink on tracing paper and should be properly labeled with bolt solid lines so that these can be reduced up to half or even less than half of their original size. The scale of a figure (when required) must be indicated by a scale line on the drawing itself. Legends for plate (if any) should be typed on a separate page. The photographs should be submitted on glossy paper or JBEG format. Black and white photographs are acceptable. Color photographs may be submitted in black and white. For color printing in the articles, however, the author(s) will have to bear the expenses for the color reproduction. Only good-quality photographic prints and original drawings are acceptable.
Short Communications: Short research information should not exceed more than three printed pages (600 words) including graphs, tables, references figures, names and address of the author(s). The presentation should be continuous and paragraphed, i.e. without headings like Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, etc.
Declaration: Author(s) is/are requested to give a declaration certifying that the work was carried out by him/her/them and the contents of the paper were not published before or submitted for publication in any other journal and that he/she they has/have only submitted his/her/their paper(s) for consideration by the Editorial Board of The Chittagong University Journal of Biological Sciences.
Submission: The manuscript should conform to the style provided in the latest issue of the Journal. To expedite publication, a copy of the manuscript should be submitted electronically via e-mail (cu.jbs@yahoo.com) attachment. In addition, three copies of the manuscript including figures, tables, and an electronic version of the same in a Pendrive or CD must be submitted to the Executive Editor, The Chittagong University Journal of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Chittagong, Chattogram-4331, Bangladesh. If the article is accepted, the author will have to provide the article in a pen drive/ rewritable CD.
Authors(s) will receive 5 copies of free reprints. For additional copies, the author(s) shall have to pay the price personally, and for this author must inform the Executive Editor in writing after the paper(s) is/are accepted for publication.
No paper will be published if it does not conform to the style specified for this Journal. The Executive Editor and the Editorial Board will not be held responsible for the factual accuracy of the contribution(s).

Bangladesh Journals Online (BanglaJOL) is a member of the Ubiquity Partner Network coordinated by Ubiquity Press. According to the EU definitions, BanglaJOL is the data controller, and Ubiquity Press are the service providers and data processors. We regularly backup our databases, and we use reliable cloud service providers (Amazon, Google Cloud, Linode) to ensure they are kept securely. Backups are regularly rotated and the old data is permanently deleted. We have a clear internal data handling policy, restricting access to the data and backups to key employees only. In case of a data breach, we will report the breach to the affected users, and to the press/journal contacts within 72 hours.
Personal information is only used to deliver the services provided by the publisher. Personal data is not shared externally except for author names, affiliations, emails, and links to ORCiD and social media accounts (if provided) in published articles and books which are displayed as part of the article/book and shared externally to indexes and databases. If a journal operates under open peer review then the reviewer details are published alongside the reviewer details.
