Manuscripts to be submitted for publication and communications concerning editorial matters should be sent to the Editor-in-Chief, Jahangirnagar University Journal of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Biological Sciences, Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka-1342, Bangladesh (E-mail: deanbios@juniv.edu).
Preparation of Text
Authors should consult a CURRENT issue of the Journal and conform to the typographical conventions, use of headings, layout of tables and citation of references. Texts must be computer processed in double-spacing on good quality sheets not larger than A4 size with a minimum margin of 40mm and should be submitted in duplicate including illustrations. The name(s) of the contributor(s), the name and address of the laboratory/ institution where the work was done and a shortened title should accompany the manuscript. A summary page should be included, giving results and conclusions in the form of an Abstract suitable for use as such for abstracting. It should not exceed 250 words. A list of 3-6 key words should be mentioned by the authors.
References
All citations in the text must be included in the REFERENCE list and vice versa. In the text, the reference should appear as, either: Rahman (1984) described, or: As described previously by Rahman (1984). When there are more than two authors, mention only the first author, e.g., Rahman et al., 1984. If the year is same for several references, identify these with a, b, c, etc., e.g. Rahman (1975 a, b, c) both in the text and in the Reference list.
In the Reference list, arrange the references in alphabetical order. In case of journals, cite the reference in the following way: Name(s) of author(s), date, title of paper, serial title (in approved abbreviated form and italicised), volume number (bold-typed), issue number (in parenthesis), first and last page numbers, thus:
Biswas, J.C. and Sattar, S.A. 1992. Weed stress Tolerance of Direct-seeded Upland Rice, Jahangirnagar University J. Biol. Sci. 1(1): 45-51.
One-word titles are never abbreviated.
Reference to books should be as follows:
Hutchinson, J. and Dalziel, J.M. 1963. Flora of Tropical, West Africa, vol.II, 2nd edn., Crown Agents for Overseas Governments and Administration, London, pp. 32-36.
Reference to articles in books should be as follows:
Rollo, I.M. 1979. Drugs used in chemotherapy of helminthiasis. In: Goodman, A.G. & Gilman, A. (eds.). The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics, 6th edn. pp. 1013-1037. MacMillan & Co., New York.
Tables Tables should be typed in appropriate places in the text and numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals (e.g. 1, 2, 3). Their headings should briefly describe their contents.
Figures
Two figures of each illustration should be submitted. These should be clearly and boldly drawn in Indian ink on tracing paper. Lettering and numbering should be inserted lightly and clearly in pencil. Legends for illustrations should be kept together on a separate sheet of paper and appended to the typescript.

Bangladesh Journals Online (BanglaJOL) is a member of the Ubiquity Partner Network coordinated by Ubiquity Press. According to the EU definitions, BanglaJOL is the data controller, and Ubiquity Press are the service providers and data processors. We take seriously our duty to process your personal data in a fair and transparent way. We collect and manage user data according to the following Privacy Policy. This document is part of our Terms of Service, and by using the press portal, affiliated journals, book, conference and repository websites (the “Websites”), you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service. We regularly backup our databases, and we use reliable cloud service providers (Amazon, Google Cloud, Linode) to ensure they are kept securely. Backups are regularly rotated and the old data is permanently deleted. We have a clear internal data handling policy, restricting access to the data and backups to key employees only. In case of a data breach, we will report the breach to the affected users, and to the press/journal contacts within 72 hours.
Personal information is only used to deliver the services provided by the publisher. Personal data is not shared externally except for author names, affiliations, emails, and links to ORCiD and social media accounts (if provided) in published articles and books which are displayed as part of the article/book and shared externally to indexes and databases. If a journal operates under open peer review then the reviewer details are published alongside the reviewer details.

In the case that control of data changes to or from Ubiquity Press and a third party, or in the case of change of ownership of Ubiquity Press or of part of the business where the control of personal data is transferred, we will do our best to inform all affected users and present the options.
