Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors who do not adhere to these guidelines.
Article Types
Four types of manuscripts may be submitted:
Editorials: It will be preferably written by invited authors only and usually covers a single topic of contemporary interest in clinical (medicine and surgery) or non-clinical subjects.
Original Articles: These should describe new and carefully confirmed findings, and experimental procedures should be given in sufficient detail for others to verify the work. The length of a full paper should be the minimum required to describe and interpret the work clearly.
Reviews: Submissions of reviews and perspectives covering topics of current interests in neurosurgery are welcome and encouraged. Reviews should be concise and no longer than 3 to 4 printed pages (about 12 to 15 manuscript pages). It should be focused and must be up to date. Reviews are also peer-reviewed.
Case Reports: This should cover uncommon and/or interesting cases in neurosurgical field with appropriate confirmation process.
Conflict-of-Interest Notification Page:
To prevent potential conflicts of interest from being overlooked or misplaced, this information needs to be part of the manuscript. The ICMJE has developed a uniform disclosure form for use by ICMJE member journals (http://www.icmje.org/coi_disclosure.pdf) and JBCPS has accepted that.
Sending the Manuscript to the Journal
Manuscripts must be accompanied by a cover letter, conflicts of interest form, authorship, and declaration form, which is available in web site. (https://ewmch.com/submissions/); Authors can contact with e-mail address: editorial.ewmcj@gmail.com for soft copy of these forms. They must download these, fill up and re send to e-mail back for submission.
Anti-plagiarism Policy:
Authors should ensure that they have written and submitted only entirely original works, and if they have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited. Plagiarism takes many forms, from "passing off" another's paper as the author's own, to copying or paraphrasing substantial parts of another's paper (without attribution), to claiming results from research conducted by others. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
All manuscripts submitted to East West Medical College Journal will undergo a plagiarism check with commercially available software. Based on the extent of plagiarism, authors may be asked to address any minor duplication or similarity with the previously published work. If plagiarism is detected after publication, the journal will investigate. If plagiarism is established, the journal will notify the authors’ institutions and funding bodies and retract the plagiarized article.

Multiple, duplicate, redundant, or concurrent submissions or publications
Papers that fundamentally describe the same study should not be published in more than one journal or primary publication. As a result, authors should not submit an article that has previously been published in another journal for consideration. Submission of a manuscript to more than one journal at the same time is unethical and unacceptable publishing behavior.
Specific types of papers (such as clinical recommendations or guidelines) may be published in more than one journal if certain requirements are satisfied. The authors and editors of the relevant journals must consent to secondary publication, which must have the same data and interpretation as the initial paper. In the secondary publication, the primary reference must be cited.
Copyright Notice
Copyright of all published articles belongs to the EWMCJ. Copyright transfer is effective once the author receives written confirmation of acceptance of the manuscript. The copyright covers the exclusive and unlimited rights to reproduce and distribute an article in any form of reproduction (printing, electronic media, or any other form) and also translation rights. The author, however, reserves the right to use the published matter in any non-profitable means. It is author’s responsibility to obtain the permission from appropriate authority if figures are reused from a previously published document.

Bangladesh Journals Online (BanglaJOL) is a member of the Ubiquity Partner Network coordinated by Ubiquity Press. According to the EU definitions, BanglaJOL is the data controller, and Ubiquity Press are the service providers and data processors. Ubiquity Press provide the technical platform and some publishing services to BanglaJOL and operate under the principle of data minimisation where only the minimal amount of personal data that is required to carry out a task is obtained.

We take seriously our duty to process your personal data in a fair and transparent way. We collect and manage user data according to the following Privacy Policy. This document is part of our Terms of Service, and by using the press portal, affiliated journals, book, conference and repository websites (the “Websites”), you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service. We regularly backup our databases, and we use reliable cloud service providers (Amazon, Google Cloud, Linode) to ensure they are kept securely. Backups are regularly rotated and the old data is permanently deleted. We have a clear internal data handling policy, restricting access to the data and backups to key employees only. In case of a data breach, we will report the breach to the affected users, and to the press/journal contacts within 72 hours.
Personal information is only used to deliver the services provided by the publisher. Personal data is not shared externally except for author names, affiliations, emails, and links to ORCiD and social media accounts (if provided) in published articles and books which are displayed as part of the article/book and shared externally to indexes and databases. If a journal operates under open peer review then the reviewer details are published alongside the reviewer details.

We may choose to buy or sell assets. In the case that control of data changes to or from Ubiquity Press and a third party, or in the case of change of ownership of Ubiquity Press or of part of the business where the control of personal data is transferred, we will do our best to inform all affected users and present the options.
