About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Aims: The Bangladesh Journal of Medical Physics (BJMP) seeks to foster and disseminate progress in the integration and utilization of various technologies and scientific fields within realm of Physics in Medicine. The journal aims to promote innovation and high-quality interdisciplinary research papers, scientific notes, conference papers, and tutorial papers that investigate the intersection of medical imaging technologies, radiotherapy physics, health physics, biophysics, radiation safety, and theoretical physics related to the technological advancements. Our goal is to connect theoretical and practical research, fostering comprehensive solutions to intricate medical technology and engineering challenges.

Scope:

Medical Physics: Investigation of physical principles in the creation of applied technologies for radiotherapy in treating cancer patients, medical diagnostic imaging technologies utilizing ionizing radiation, such as radiology and nuclear medicine, as well as non-ionizing radiation, and encompasses innovations in electrical and electronic technologies in healthcare.

Tomography: Investigations and advancements in imaging techniques that capture sections using penetrating waves, including X-rays, magnetic fields, electric fields, and various methods for healthcare applications.

Electronics in Medicine: Advancements in electronic devices and systems for medical assessment, therapy and patient monitoring.

Medical Instrumentation: Design, Develop and assesses medical instruments and devices, focusing on their efficiency and improvements in patient treatment.

Imaging Technologies: Advances in medical imaging techniques, including MRI, CT, PET, and other modalities are aimed at improving diagnostic accuracy and research capabilities.

Computational and Data Science in Medicine: Application of computational methods, machine learning, and data analysis in medical research and healthcare, including modeling and predictive analytics.

Radiation Protection: Covers radiation protection and research aimed at disseminating scientific and technical information on radiation protection and related issues. This includes ionizing and non-ionizing radiation used for healthcare radiation. Specialized knowledge includes radiation physics and detection, the design of shielding for healthcare facilities, radiation dosimetry, dose monitoring and assessment, radiation biology, and epidemiology, evaluation of radiation risk, health implications of radiation, safety regulations, education and training, along with the involvement of social sciences such as risk communication and social issues.

 Peer Review:

It allows writers to improve their work and assists editors in their decision-making about it. The BJMP employs a double-blinded peer review process. All entries to the BJMP and discover journals are initially checked for completeness and subsequently forwarded to an editor for evaluation regarding their appropriateness for peer review. If an editor is included in the author list or has any conflicting interests related to a particular manuscript, another editorial board member will be designated to manage the peer review process. Editors will take into account the peer review reports when making their decisions, but they are not obligated to follow the opinions or suggestions provided in them. A concern expressed by an individual peer reviewer or the editor can result in the manuscript being rejected. Writers receive peer review feedback along with the editorial verdict on their manuscript. Proceedings papers undergo evaluation by the program chairs and members of the program committee of the specific conference, assisted by the external reviewers they choose.

Open Access:

All research articles published in BJMP Open Access journals is entirely open access: readily accessible for reading, downloading, and sharing without charge. Articles are released under a creative common license that allows for use, distribution, reproduction in any medium, as long as the original work is appropriately cited.

Conflict of Interest:

All authors and co-authors must disclose the conflicts of interest when they submit their article (e.g., employment, consulting fees, research contracts, stock ownership, patent license, honoraria, advisory affiliations, etc.). This information ought to be included in an acknowledgements section at the end of the manuscript (before the references section) All sources of funding of the project need to revealed in the acknowledgements section. The editorial board reviews statements about conflict of interest and may raise questions about them.

Monetary relationships (such as employment, consulting positions, equity stakes or options, remuneration, patents, and paid expert evaluations) represent the most identifiable conflicts of interest and are most prone to undermine the integrity of the journal, the authors, and science in general.

Publication Fee: Authors will not incur any publication fees until June 2027.

Submission of the article: To submit a manuscript, please use this e-mail for submission of the article: editor-bjmpa@gmail.com or drshakilbaec@gmail.com

Authors must attest that the submitted manuscript has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere except as a scientific meeting abstract or proceedings paper. If accepted by BJMP, authors must declare the manuscript article indicates that the work described has not been published previously or submitted any other journal for publication.

Copyright Instruction: Upon acceptance of their article, authors are requested to complete an assignment of copyright form that is available in the website.
